PROFILE OF CONSULTANTS

 

RAYMOND AKAKPO – MANAGING CONSULTANT

Raymond is a career Banker with 29 years of industry and training experience, having worked in GCB Bank and Standard Chartered Bank. Units worked in both Banks include Corporate Banking, Credit Risk, Foreign Operations, Treasury and Learning &Talent Development.

Resource person was a lecturer and Examiner in Lending for the Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana for 13 years. Additionally, between 2002 and 2006, Raymond worked as a training resource in the Wholesale Banking Division of Standard Chartered Bank Africa, conducting training in the following countries in addition to Ghana:

West Africa: Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and the Gambia.

East Africa: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Southern Africa: Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia

 

Areas of expertise include: Credit Analysis. SME Financing, Commercial Lending, International Trade Finance and Managerial / Personal Development.

Resource is a holder of BSc. Degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), UK. Courses attended is wide ranging and covers, Treasury, Credit Risk Analysis, Relationship Management, Trade Finance, Management Development, etc. Raymond is also a designated Credit and Trade Finance Expert and holds certification from Omega Training (USA) to that effect.

Until February 28, 2010, resource person was the Director and Head, Credit Risk Analysis in the Wholesale Bank Division of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, a position which involved the management of the Bank’s corporate lending book worth USD800 million at the time.

AKWASI EFFAH-ADU–PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Akwasi Effah-Adu started his banking career with the ADB Bank in 1993 as a Trade Officer. He later joined SCB in 1994 to 2004, where he honed his skills as a Relationship Manger. Akwesi also had stints with the then Intercontinental Bank as a General Manager, Corporate and Institutional Banking and also as a General Manager of the Access Bank.

He later resigned to form Accent Financial Services and Continental Capital Limited.

Akwesi holds a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from Walden University, an Exexecutive MBA from the University of Ghana Business School and B.Sc. Administration from the same university.

Among his accomplishments as the General Manager of Access Bank, Mr. Effah-Adu

  • Successfully rolled out the Institutional Banking Group after completing the Business Combination between Access Bank and Intercontinental Bank.
  • Successfully implemented New Access Bank strategy for Corporate and Institutional Banking.
  • Successfully acted as Managing Director on various occasions in the absence of the Managing Director.
  • Provided training across the bank for all business staff.
